My subject line, reading "Not Done Yet," refers to the man himself, not the portrait. The portrait is done. This is the second time I've painted Spencer. The first time was in 2011. He is an inspiration. Now 82 he still runs competitive senior track and field and, as his Gold Medals attest, is amassing quite the record. In fact upon finishing this portrait he was off to North Carolina where here he was entered in five different competitions and walked, or ran, away with another five Gold Medals.
He is viewing these paintings as "legacy portraits." Something he wants to leave to his family. A great idea and, historically, much more of a tradition in the South. This is something that would be cherished by many families.
In other news, I currently have a painting in the Allied Artists of America exhibit at the famed Salmagundi Club in New York City and in Oct will have another at the Slater Museum in Norwich, CT. More about these shows soon.
Fall is coming is almost upon us, the weather here in CT has been gorgeous and I can hear Spencer saying: "Get outside for a walk," so I'm outta here.
